You? SHOP NOW>>>>
When looking at our AGO series of electric bicycles, you might wonder what the difference is between the AGO X and AGO T models — are they the same model with a different frame? Is one more suitable for urban commuting and the other for cross-country riding?
Both options offer sharp, functional designs with high-quality builds at similar price points, but how do these two e-bike models compare, and which is most suitable for your riding needs? Let's take a look.
Use scenarios and series
Though the AGO X and AGO T series have some similarities, they are both tailored for specific purposes that make them differ in components and overall riding experience.
The AGO X is a hybrid mid-drive e-bike, best described as an urban all-rounder. As TENWAYS' strongest ride, it's built for more complex riding scenarios, making its strong climbing capabilities and overall robustness key features.
Comparatively, the AGO T is a comfortable, mid-drive hybrid e-bike that performs seamlessly for urban commuting, designed for maximum comfort and ease of use.
Whilst both models are hybrid e-bikes with mid-drive motors and 80Nm torque, they have differing specs that tailor them to their ideal uses.
Key differences between the AGO X and AGO T e-bike models
Before we get into the specific differences between the AGO X and AGO T, it's important to note that these models are not gender-specific, but instead, designed for different riding styles and user needs.
Let's take a look at the main differences.
Frame Design: Diamond vs Step-Through Frame
When it comes to diamond versus step-through bike frames, there are key differences that make each option more suitable for specific routes, ease of getting on and off, and even posture.
The AGO X e-bike has a diamond frame, making it suitably robust for moderate trekking and rugged urban conditions and durability for speedier, longer journeys. This frame is more aligned with a rider looking to go off the beaten track on both flat and bumpy terrain, with a sportier, forward-leaning posture.
Further bolstering its adaptability, the AGO X frame comes in three sizes (160-175 cm, 170-185 cm, and 180-195 cm), compared to the more universal AGO T (165-195 cm) which is suitable for a wide range of riders.
The best option for you depends on your comfort and riding preferences, with the AGO X offering the sportier, durable option for a more adventurous rider, and the AGO T offering a comfortable, smooth option for an everyday rider.
Shifting & Drivetrain: Performance vs. Maintenance
One of the most significant differences between the AGO X and AGO T is their motor and drivetrains. The AGO X has a powerful Bafang M410 motor delivering up to 80Nm of torque, making it a robust and highly capable option for more adventurous paths when combined with its 10-speed derailleur and chain drive.
In contrast, the AGO T has a low-maintenance belt drive that utilises a strapless shifting hub for hassle-free urban driving, utilising an M420 motor for more consistent, smooth power delivery for stepless shifting.
The AGO X has a setup with greater control for use on varied terrains for performance-focused riders, whereas the AGO T utilises a lower maintenance option for an urban commuter.
Flexibility & Comfort
Both the AGO X and AGO T are built with comfort in mind, but their seat positions and stems differ to suit their rider and purpose.
Prioritising greater control for rough terrain, the AGO X has a fixed stem for simplicity and reduced weight, utilising front suspension. The AGO T, by comparison, has a suspension seatpost for more customisable comfort, with an adjustable stem to make longer rides effortless and streamlined - these features make the AGO T the slightly heavier model.
